![]() ![]() Someone still sliced it (and the mold was dime sized, so difficult to miss!) and served it to us. The one drawback, and hence the deduction of stars for service, is that no one on the staff noticed one of the cheeses had grown an unnatural green/black fuzzy mold on its gooey interior (not the rind). I thought the items I tried were all well executed. We also had 2 orders of the cheese plate, an order of mussels, 3 orders of the salmon tournedos, an order of grilled chicken, and several kids' meals of pasta with tomato sauce. Sadly, they didn't have any foie gras that day so we couldn't introduce their kids to that. We indulged in a wide variety of items that normally aren't perceived as "kid-friendly" including the escargot (the kids were fascinated and yet grossed out!), two orders of the bone marrow (they inhaled the first order so we got another one), pate, and steamed artichoke (our friends' kids had never tried it before). I would not have brought so many kids to a dinner here, though, as I would feel terrible about ruining the ambience of such a cozy bistro for a romantic date night. Yet the staff was incredibly friendly and patient, so I didn't feel like we were totally awkward and out of place. Our party of 10 dominated the intimate dining room, and I'm sure the noise level was higher than usual due to having 4 kids under 9. The ten of us (with 6 kids) enjoyed a lovely lunch at Encore Bistro Francais. This was their first time dining here, too. There are so many fine restaurants there is no reason to go to this one.We visited our friends who live nearby and discovered this place together. Usually I tip 20% but I was so annoyed tonight I was only going to tip 15% which wasn’t even an available option. I asked for the check and the waiter gives me a portable credit card reader with tip choices of 25%,20%,18%. The meals were all very good but the delay and poor service left a very poor taste in our mouths. We ordered food only entrees which took about 40 minutes to get. I flagged down the manager type person and told him we needed menus. It’s now 30 minutes and we still don’t even have menus. waiter finally came over and asked what we wanted to drink and I said wine. We sat and waited and waited at least 15 minutes. We were seated at a table and brought water. We went with friends at our suggestion and regretted it. We always enjoyed the food, ambiance and service. especially high prices with very ordinary service and food. Our premeal app was decent but for $21.00 the portion was small, plated with a bowl of spicy red sauce which took up as much space as the actual Calamari. Expect to pay about $100 per person with minimal ordering, and sharing apps. it was a butter sauce with some cheese melted in it. The gnocchi was very good, but the sauce did not complement the gnocchi. Our guest did not complain about his chicken dish for $32.00, it was a small reheated piece with bone and skin, plated with nicely displayed vegetables. The neighboring table had to send back a dish as it was not prepared as requested. The food was average at best but was not prepared as requested, I asked for the sauce on the side and the food came with a butter sauce that was not flavorful. Obviously we were then done with bread and butter after he put his hands on our plates. pats off our bread plates without asking if we wanted his fingers in the plates were eating off of, partially used butter pats on our plates which we were still using until his fingers went through our plates. The food was a terrible disappointment! Absolutely no attention to detail of what you would expect in a better restaurant and the waiter actually picked our butter.
